Champagne Roger-Constant Lemaire - a rare delicacy

Champagne from the Roger-Constant Lemaire brand is neither a mass-produced nor an industrial champagne. There are certainly several reasons why Roger-Constant Champagne is considered an insider tip among connoisseurs. From a professional perspective, two reasons are crucial: only their own first-press grapes are used for winemaking each year, which naturally limits champagne production to approximately 86,000 bottles. Processing is carried out in a particularly gentle manner, avoiding malolactic fermentation. You can only enjoy Roger-Constant Lemaire Champagne grapes after a maturation period of 4 years for non-vintage champagne, and 6-7 years for Millésime.

The origins of the Lemaire estate date back to the late 19th century, when Désiré Lemaire acquired the first vineyards in Hautvillers. His son, Maurice Lemaire, first marketed Champagne in the 1920s. His son, Roger-Constant Lemaire, married Yvette Godbillon, the daughter of a Champagne winegrower. This doubled the vineyard area of the Lemaire house – the R.C. Lemaire brand was founded. In 1975, Brigitte Lemaire, Roger-Constant's daughter, and her husband Gilles Tournant took over the Roger-Constant Lemaire house. They invested in a new cellar with thermoregulated tanks, and in the vineyards, they use organically certified products such as seaweed powder and generally pay close attention to natural cultivation methods and processing of the grapes for their Champagnes.
